A marketplace that opens to customers on empty calendars asks people to wait. Nexus is lining up plumbers, electricians and air conditioning technicians before the first customer booking.

Nexus is coming soon to Barbados. We are building the provider network first.

The Usual Launch Gets This Backwards

The typical pattern is easy to recognise. A new app announces that you can “find a plumber today.” A few people sign up. The directory is thin. The one person who is listed is already busy. The customer goes back to WhatsApp, and the tradesperson never hears about the booking that stayed empty.

Both sides learn the same lesson: the marketplace is still a list.

We would rather be late to the first booking than early to a broken one. A reserved slot only means something if a verified provider can actually take it. A displayed price only means something if someone will show up and do that scope. Payment protection only means something if there is a completed job to protect.

What “Ready” Means for a First Booking

We are waiting until the first verticals can do a simple thing well.

A customer can pick a scoped service call, see the price for that scope, and book a real slot.

A provider can accept or decline that booking against a calendar they control.

If the job matches the scope, that is the price. If the provider finds something else, extra work waits on a quote the customer approves.

Payment is held by the platform and moves through completion, with a 24-hour window for the customer to raise a problem before the job is treated as done.

That is a short list. It is also a higher bar than a phone number and a promise.

Why Plumbers, Electricians and AC Technicians First

Those visits already have a shape people understand. Something is leaking, dead, or no longer cooling. Someone needs to come, find it, and when it is in scope, fix it.

That is the right first product for Barbados: a scoped service call we can stand behind. Custom builds and multi-week renovations come later, once someone has seen the work. Other categories will come when the first ones work.

If you are a carpenter, mason, painter or cleaner, you are being asked to wait until we can offer you the same thing — funded, scoped work with a real calendar behind it.

What This Period Is For

This is the unglamorous part. We are talking to tradespeople about how jobs actually arrive, how payment actually moves, and what would make a good person say yes. We are verifying identities. We are lining up calendars.

If you do this work, this is the useful time to join the provider waitlist. Early providers get priority placement and a say in how the first months feel.

If you are waiting on a plumber who said Tuesday, join the customer list. You will hear from us when there is someone to book.
