You finished the work. The customer said they would send it. That was Thursday.

Friday you send a reminder. Saturday you are still waiting. By Monday you are deciding whether to call again or let it go, because chasing money after a job is already done feels worse than doing the job itself.

For a lot of skilled tradespeople in Barbados, that is a normal week.

The Unpaid Second Job

The visit is only part of the job. Around it sits a second job that nobody invoices for.

You answer WhatsApp at night to explain a leak you have yet to see. You drive across the island for a “just come and look.” You hold a morning open for someone who is out when you arrive. You finish the work, then spend the next few days collecting what you already earned.

That unpaid work still costs time.

Good plumbers, electricians and air conditioning technicians already know how to do the trade. What they often lack is a reliable way to get booked, show up, and get paid without running a collections desk on the side.

What “Qualified Work” Should Mean

A serious booking should answer three things before you leave the yard.

Is this a real job?

A customer who picked a service, picked a time, and committed. A booking you can plan a morning around.

What is in scope?

You should know what the visit includes before you accept it. If the job is larger than that scope, extra work waits on a priced follow-up the customer has to approve. Surprise labour stays off the original visit. Extra work starts after they say yes.

Will you be paid?

The platform should hold the customer’s payment and release it through the normal completion path. Your pay follows the visit you did, once completion clears.

You Still Do the Work

You still decide which bookings to accept. You still do the work. You still set the calendar you can actually keep.

What changes is the layer around the job: a verified profile, a reserved time slot, a scoped service call, and payment that lives on the platform.

We are starting with plumbers, electricians and air conditioning technicians because those visits already have a shape people understand — someone comes, finds the problem, and when it is in scope, fixes it.

We Are Building the Provider Network First

Nexus is launching soon. Before we take customer bookings, we are lining up the people who will do the work.

If you want booked, scoped, prepaid visits, join the provider waitlist. Early providers get priority placement and a chance to help shape how the platform works.

If you are the customer who has been waiting on a transfer screen of your own — still wondering who is coming, when, and for how much — join the customer list. We will tell you when Nexus is live.
